Leadership Philosophy

Leadership Philosophy

Planning

Work closely with Directors, Design, Tech Art, Lighting, VFX, Audio, and Narrative.

  • Build task breakdowns, estimates, sprint plans, and milestone schedules.

  • Delegate effectively based on skill, interest, and project needs.

  • Identify risks early and communicate with producer to keep scope realistic. Make sure all task are tracked and well documented.

  • Prepare for any co-dev, freelance, or outsourcing if needed.

Quality and Ownership

Maintain consistent quality and always take ownership for mistakes and failures.

  • Set and maintain the environment art quality bar across all levels/biomes. Work with those responsible and delegate accordingly.

  • Oversee worldbuilding, composition, material quality, lighting integration, and visual storytelling.

  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure consistency, readability, and polish.

  • Always work with design and make sure the gameplay is not impacted.

Leadership & Mentorship

The project is a team effort and we are all in the boat together!

  • Provide clear visual direction aligned with the Art Director’s vision.

  • Mentor and support junior, mid, and senior artists through feedback, paintovers, and 1:1s.

  • Foster a healthy, collaborative team culture and help artists grow in their careers.

  • Also, let experts in their craft share their experiences, and knowledge with the team. If someone has a more efficient way of getting a task done. Let them do it!

Ambition within Limitations

Balance artistic ambition with technical restraint! Don’t take on too much tech debt..

  • Keep up with performance and tech debt.

  • Work with team to document budgets and optimization.

  • Keep up with industry trends and tools to improve production efficiency.

  • Do a lot with very little! Try get as much “bang for your buck” out of asset reuse, shared materials, modular kits, etc.
